THERE ARE NO OFFICE HOURS DURING THE WINTER. PLEASE CALL TO ARRANGE A CHECK-IN TIME BETWEEN 6:30 P.M. AND 10:00 P.M. The Bar Harbor Hostel is located on Mount Desert Island 1-mile from Acadia National Park. We are in down town Bar Harbor, a 10 minute walk to the ocean, a quick taxi ride from the CAT ferry and a few blocks from the Greyhound/Vermont and Bar Harbor Shuttle bus drop off. (Please note: the buses stop running Labor Day but the shuttle runs year round. Reservations are required for the shuttle.) We are fortunate to be located in an area where opportunities abound for hiking, biking, canoeing, ocean kayaking, sailing, and whale-watching, among other outdoor pursuits. We enjoy being near the forest, mountains, lakes and the ocean. Acadia National Park is easily accessed on the free Island Explorer shuttles which run from June 23rd to October 9th (2006 schedule) and bike rentals are available in town. The Bar Harbor Youth Hostel has 28 beds including a private room for four. We also have 3 8x8 wooden tent platforms. Lock-out hours Currew: Midnight No smoking, alcohol or pets. We are available for groups. ** If you are arriving on the CAT Ferry, please note the Sunday ferry arrives in Bar Harbor after check-in and after curfew. You will need to stay elsewhere on Sunday night or plan to arrive on the Monday ferry. An exception may be made for returning guests. We welcome children of 12 years and older.
